The city complex of the Roman Siscia consists of a bulwark with an internal tower, a defence entrenchment and a part of a late-Roman monumental building, while Stari grad (the Old Town), the Renaissance fort, is proof of the historical battle with the Ottomans in 1593. The Lonjsko polje Nature Park stretches along the left bank of the river Sava, downstream from Sisak. The splendour of this area is emphasised by the villages along the river Sava and its armlets, on which there are many rural estates where you can relax and spend unforgettable moments. The unique and well preserved architecture of the wooden houses, on which numerous storks nest, are another attractive feature. Since it is a refuge for numerous storks, the village of Čigoć was declared a European stork village. The Celtic Night is a cultural event which brings to life the famous history of Sisak. Rafts which sail the river Kupa carry various historical images of ancient warriors, druids, beauties, heroes…
