Virovitica

Virovitica is the largest city in Podravina, and also the centre of the county. It is located in a beautiful area where the scenic Bilogora transforms into the fertile Pannonian plain. It’s rich and long history is painted by the monumental heritage and archaeological sites. The centre of the town is dominated by the baroque-classicist palace of the Pejačević family, surrounded by a harmonious park, and the luxurious interior of the church of sv. Roko [St. Rocco] is considered to be one of the most beautiful examples of continental baroque religious art. The slopes of Bilogora that reach down to the tip of the Drava river are suitable for day trips and active holidays, especially for hunting. The Virovitica fish ponds - a complex of 12 lakes, of which 9 are fish ponds, an organised children's playground and other facilities are a favourite resort for the people of Virovitica, fishermen and all nature lovers.
